Francesco Oliva, a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and a prominent
teacher on the North Shore.  During those years, David participated annually in the adjudicated
National Piano Playing Auditions, and in 1963 was awarded the Paderewski Gold Medal by the
American College of Musicians and a High School Diploma in Artistic Piano Playing as well as a
scholarship from the National Guild of Piano Teachers.  That same year he also was named a finalist
at the New England Pianoforte Teachers’ Association Competition in Boston, and performed in the
finalists’ recital at Boston University.  David subsequently gave a successful solo recital at the King
Hooper Mansion in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

Two decades later David intensively studied piano again, this time for seven years with Michael
Kramer, a prominent artist-teacher with a master’s degree in piano performance from Boston University
who had débuted at Carnegie Hall and was both teaching and performing.  Playing a Baldwin Artist

David resides with his wife, Martha, in Bangor, Maine.
